Jorge is of a strong and proud Scottish and Mexican background.  Growing up in Ensenada, Mexico, Jorge found trials and tribulations early with not only his own people of Mexico but the many obstacles of having a European background.  He prevailed in Mexico and began his long journey north to attend art school outside of the Bay Area, at California College of Arts and Crafts.  His passion and strong suit were gems and jewelry.  As most paths change dramatically, he started a family and had to pursue a career that would not only spiritually benefit him, but provide for his family and so began his long history of exceptional high school teaching.  His passion for the fine arts have never been clouded by his many other passions: his family, his fervor to travel and explore, his ambition to catch the wave, wherever and whenever possible.  Holding onto these many passions he began expressing himself through painting.  Here he saw that he had an ability to share on canvas what was deeply embedded in his soul.  His fears, his self doubts, his insecurities, “as well as his singular vision.”  He was able to explore on canvas his multi-dimensional life and lifestyle and capture this heart and soul.  He shares his metamorphosis, his triumph, his joy and love of living.  Throughout his life, Jorge has dealt with adversity and conquered the loathing that comes in self-defeat and betrayal.  Jorge is able to capture life and spiritual breath on his canvas as he shares color and dimension, transforming canvas into a living object of truth, strength and perseverance.  Truly an artist of life, Jorge exemplifies all our power and complexity in the magic of his paintings.
